Game Design: GameSalad 2

I am almost done with my side scrolling shooter.  Here's an update on the characters.  Still not satisfied on their appearance, keeps getting changed, but this might be final.  Hope to have the game up soon!

After Effects

Here's one of my assignments from the other day.  I worked with short clips of, Ask a Ninja, and I used After Effects.  For this assignment I worked with a green screen background for both of the clips.  The first one was a little easier, I just had to key out the green color, and I didn't have to work with background objects like the second clip, where I had to crop out some of the equipment that was used.  I cleaned up the edges of the ninja, applied a new background, color corrected to make the scene match a little better with the ninja, and made a vignette also.

Game Design: Character

Right now I am working on a character for another game design class that I am taking this semester.  The theme that I chose was a Western game.  I am currently working on the actual model of the character with Maya; so far I am focusing on the head and facial appearance.  Here's some quick sketches.

Character Design

Here’s one of my character's that I came up with last semester and some of the processes that I went through.  First built in Photoshop then imported into Flash where I animated my character.

Game Design: GameSalad

Right now I am currently working on a side scrolling shooter for the iPhone.  I have been modeling out some of the actors that are going to be used; the appearance is still not final.  I haven't come up with a background scene yet, still need to come up with an environment that would fit best for my actors.  All were made with Maya.

Engineering Background

I have been studying Animation/ 3D Animation for about a year now; before I had switched my major I was focusing on Mechanical Engineering for about 3 years.  The best thing I enjoyed about my engineering courses was that we were using a program called, Solid Works, to design 3D models.  I would use this program all the time, besides using it for school related projects.  Here are some exercises that we would work on.  Basic skills, extrusions, cuts, chamfer, shell, revolve, lofts, helix and working on different planes.
